Reflections

Growing up on the dry lands of the prairies, Jodi gained a deep reverence for water, the escape it offers from the everyday and the way the light from the skies reflect differently, shifting with every moment.

This impermanence informs her work, drawing on fleeting memories that become part of our stories, shifting with the light each time we reflect on them.

In her work, Jodi allows for the flow of the paint to mimic that of the water beginning with soft graphite lines on the canvas then building paint with the swirl of her brushes and sweep of her palette knives to capture the movement of the water. Her work is often finished with gold or grey edges to capture the mood of the reflections and hint at the memories they hold.
