Big Skies

Jodi’s paintings use skies as a means of connection. Through growing up on a family farm to her travels around the world serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force, she garnered an appreciation for the vastness and sense of peace offered by looking up, a sense of belonging still with those who were far away.

Her work relies heavily on memory and shared experiences to render her skies allowing the viewers to find their own connections and leave us open to the possibilities just over the horizon.

Jodi’s works often begin with graphite sketching onto the canvas followed by layers of acrylic paints applied with her large brushes and platte knives in broad, sweeping movements. She often adds subtle shimmers of metallic paint and finishes her edges in gold referencing the preciousness of our memories and beautiful connections.
